Social media presents a powerful opportunity for career centers to convey their value proposition to students, and the pandemic required all of us to effectively leverage social media as the primary way to reach students. Dean Marchildon will walk us through the creation and day-to-day use of a centralized social media management system using Airtable, a spreadsheet-database collaboration tool. This new system was implemented in 2021 for Boston University’s Center for Career Development and has been key to expanding social media outreach efforts. Since its implementation, we’ve harnessed our student ambassadors’ talents to create over 250 unique social media posts, stories, and takeovers on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, with new content published an average of 5 days a week. Attendees will walk away with a fresh perspective on how to organize social media efforts for their career centers by employing an organized, collaborative, and wide-reaching approach.
